WORSHIP AT ST. MATT'S

Worship is at the center of our life together, and it sprouts up around the edges. We have found that worship can transform us, strengthen us, reduce our stress, and gives us real hope as we navigate through this complicated world. There’s something about intentionally making time for nurturing our spirit that provides breathing space for reflection on what’s really important.

When held, our 8am service meets in St. Mary's Chapel on the campus of St. Matthew's. The entrance to the chapel is at the corner of Lincoln and Hartrey.

Our 10:30am service meets in the church Sanctuary, entrance on Hartrey, and includes Holy Communion and choir. Nursery care is provided. Learning opportunities gather between services at 9:30am. Please check our calendar to see what is being offered.

Land Acknowledgement

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church sits on the traditional homelands of the people of the Council of Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Odawa nations. This land was also a place of travel and trade to many other tribes, including the Menominee, Ho-Chunk, and Miami tribes. These Native Peoples were forced off their lands with the Second Treaty of Prairie du Chien in 1829. After a series of land transfers, St. Matthew’s acquired its current site within this territory in 1906. Today, Cook County is home to tens of thousands of Native Americans from many tribes. We acknowledge and respect our Indigenous neighbors, as we strive to be good stewards of this Native land.
